Put your Potty Mouth to good use with Rotary’s Swear If You Care project. We are raising money for clean water and sanitation in the Dominican Republic. Swear jars will be placed all over Westmoreland County bars. So if you swear, pay your fare, to show you care!
Operation Zip ‘Em Up is a service project to provide warm winter coats to children in Westmoreland County. We are collecting new & gently-used coats in sizes: Infant – Age 18.
New this year, Rotary of Westmoreland hosted “Westmoreland All Saints,” an art auction and beer tasting event held at the All Saints Brewery in Greensburg, on October 4, 2013. This event featured a silent, as well as local craft beers and appetizers. This event is unique in its focus on Rotary International’s mission of “Service Above Self” through the pairing of local artists with local “saints” in Westmoreland County.
By pairing a local artist with a local “saint,” Rotary of Westmoreland hopes to inspire others through the art and to help cultivate a culture where people and organizations strengthen our community by embodying the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self. Each of the 2013 Westmoreland All Saints had their story told by artistic expression. See photo gallery.
In 2010, the Rotary of Westmoreland partnered with teachers and parents of the Hempfield Area Autism Support Parents Association to host the first Night at the Races- a charity event that supports the costs of therapeutic riding classes for children with autism. The event was a huge success and has continued for the past two years.
The Night at the Races will support the social, academic, and behavioral education programs needed to help these children learn to cope with this disorder.
Each year, the Rotary of Westmoreland participates in the Toys for Tots program organized by the U.S. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. We look forward to doing our part in helping get these toys to those children
The mission of Toys for Tots is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
Zombie Apocalypse is a survival challenge game, similar to capture the flag and laser tag, where survivors will have to battle their way through an endless horde of zombies to reach shelter and safety. The game will comprise of four teams of survivors and an endless number of zombies.
The charitable goal is to raise $2,000 for ShelterBox, a Rotary International project. ShelterBoxes are large green plastic containers that provide essential supplies a family would need in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. They include a tent, new thermal blankets, cooking utensils, a stove, basic tool kit and water purification equipment.
