About Rotary of Westmoreland

Service Above Self

Rotary of Westmoreland is an affiliated club of Rotary International, which comprises over 1.2 million people in 22,000 clubs across the globe. Rotary of Westmoreland adopts Rotary International’s Four Avenues of Service as its guiding philosophy for performing service to the community. Rotary’s Five Avenues of Service consist of club service, international service, community service, vocational service, and service to youth.

Club Service

Rotary supports an atmosphere that allows members to experience opportunities for friendship and camaraderie. Whether it is a happy hour, cocktail social, or outing, Rotary of Westmoreland offers enriching experiences for social and personal development for all members.

Community Service

Rotary of Westmoreland is heavily committed to Westmoreland county. Members attend weekly meetings from various parts of the county. Rotary of Westmoreland aims, through community service, to improve the quality of life of everyone living in our community. Each year, Rotary supports countless charities and organizations that serve families, children, and individuals in the region.

International Service

Rotary members, each year, use their vocational skills and resources to contribute to humanitarian projects wherever the club’s help is needed. International service is leveraged through Rotary International’s Foundation, where humanitarian grants, service opportunities, and foreign exchanges are offered.

Vocational Service

Vocational service encourages Rotarians to serve others through their professions and to practice high ethical standards. Rotarians, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations and inspire others in the process. Observed each October, Vocational Service Month spotlights Rotary club projects related to this avenue, offering an opportunity for clubs and districts to use their professional skills in service projects.

New Generations Service

Rotary recently added this fifth avenue in response to the need to cultivate talented and passionate volunteers to sustain the work of the organization. Rotary offers service opportunities to provide service to younger generations of Rotarians through the Rotary Youth Leadership Acadmy (RYLA) and various Interact and Rotaract clubs.
